It is officially Day 3 at the agency. It’s a busier time than usual (back to school followed by fashion week followed by end of year reports). A few tips and tricks that I use are:
1. Write EVERYTHING down
When anyone asks you to do something or mentions a potentially important detail, write it down. Try to be as word-for-word as possible. This shows you’re taking the request seriously and not just saying “Okay okay sure” without actually processing the info. Once on paper, it’s so much easier to determine the importance (or futility) of the task at hand.

A little about me:
- I’ve had the idea of starting a blog in the back of my mind for a very long time, but I was never sure what to write about
- I’ve always known exactly what I wanted to do as a career since forever
It’s happening. I have finally landed my first internship with a PR agency. I was most interested in this particular agency due to it’s location (Downtown) and clients (so many cool brands). I can’t wait to get started!
After scouring the Internet for first day tips, the main pointers I found were:
- Extensively research the company/employer/industry (Duhhh!)
- Look the part (Duhh)
- Be on time (Duh)
Thanks Sherlock! The advice is so repetitive and straightforward, but I suppose it reinforces that notion that “first impressions are everything”.
Disclaimer: I do not expect this experience to be anything like The Devil Wears Prada, Sex in the City or Lauren’s first day with Kelly Cutrone in The Hills.
