
The Year of Skin
I dub 2017 the Year of Skin.
Whether it’s the trends seen in backstage close-ups or from beauty bloggers and YouTubers, clear skin is poking through the layers and layers and layers of typical medium-coverage foundation. A fresh, juicy complexion filtered with a touch of makeup is going to take over this year. You can quote me on this!
The timelessness and versatility of a fresh face may have been forgotten as the emergence of contouring and extreme makeovers took over our feeds last year. Letting natural skin shine through works in so many environments – at the office, clubbing, a job interview, shopping at Wal*Mart, an engagement party, graduation photos, funerals, the list goes on.
An added bonus are the actual skincare benefits. I personally notice when I use light coverage products or a lighter application of my favourite products, my skin looks and feels better. The texture of my face literally appears smoother and it takes less work to wash off at night.
